Tracy: A Force of Nature

Cyclone Tracy hit Darwin on Christmas Eve 1974, 50 years ago. Destroying the city and leaving 66 people dead, and tens of thousands more homeless and displaced. One of Australia’s worst natural disasters, part of what made Tracy so shocking was the way it struck, when the city least expected it.
