Elías is a young fisherman who tries to persuade his wife Margot to leave the stilt village where they live in the middle of the swamp. When she refuses, the fisherman leaves the village in search of a better future, but a subversive group drives the villagers out by committing a massacre there. Upon hearing the news, Elías returns and goes mad, clinging to memories of his missing wife, but the power of music and his tenacity will restore hope to the place.
