Rick is a vibrant and interdisciplinary artist based in Hong Kong. He graduated in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts as holder of the Master of Fine Arts in Drama (Dramaturgy). In 2013, Rick won acclaim for his role as Adam in The Shape of Things and received his first Hong Kong Theatre Libre for The Best Actor Award for his performance. He also claimed the 26th Hong Kong Drama Award nomination for his role as Sister Mary Leo in Nunsense A-men for Best Male Actor in Supporting Role. In 2023, Rick debuted his first self-directed and written play, All Is Calm. He was also one of the devising actors, creating the theater alongside the creative team, including Grace YUEN. All Is Calm received numerous recognitions, including multiple nominations, such as the IATC(HK) Critics Award for Performer of the Year 2023, The 15th Hong Kong Theater Libre for Best Script, Distinctive Actress (Grace YUEN), and Best Production. Furthermore, this production earned him, for the second time, The Best Actor Award (Rick CHEUNG) and Best Scenography Award at the 15th Hong Kong Theatre Libre Award. The showwas later developed to be a sensorial-experience theater, The Inexistence... . Apart from his role as a theater maker, Rick has demonstrated his versatility in the creative industry. He has served as a full-time performer in Australia P&O Cruises, the Show Manager at ASAP Creative & & Communication Ltd. in 2008, and the Creative Producer at Clearwater Communications in 2019, respectively, taking charge of creative proposals, production, and events planning for brands including BNP Paribas, Societte Generale, Mercedes Benz, AIA, Sunlife Insurance, etc. Thereafter, he played Ariel in The Tempest, Hunter in Title of Show, Lord Alfred Douglas in Gross Indecency: The Three Trails of Oscar Wilde, Stephen in Postcolonial Affairs of Food and the Heart, and Daniel in Suddenly Single. Rick also participates as a choreographer and movement director, creating physical and dance works. The program winner of the Hong Kong Dance Awards 2011, Positioning Dance Series was one of them. Moreover, Rick debuted his first concert as a singer-songwriter in 2011 and started his LIVE singing career. During 2012 – 14, Rick is contracted with HKTV as a TV artist.
